My Role: EP/Director

Genre: Drama

Logline: During a tense Diwali dinner, Arun struggles to accept his daughter’s relationship with her white boyfriend, but a startling revelation forces him to confront his fears and begin the difficult process of letting her go.

Director’s Statement: Illam is a universal story that also mirrors my own experiences growing up in an orthodox South Indian family while adapting to contemporary life abroad. Though written by my close friend Vrishti Savalani, the script resonated with me instantly — it felt like seeing my own story told through another voice. Through Illam, I wanted to present the father’s perspective — one that’s often misunderstood. While parents from traditional backgrounds can seem rigid, their actions are often rooted in love, fear, and a desire to protect.
